[Stallion Responsive] New Stallion Responsive 8.2 Update on Sale
Released Stallion Responsive 8.2 on January 1st and a small bug fix on the 2nd, so Stallion Responsive users should be seeing the 8.2.1 update available under their WordPress Dashboards. Also updated the Stallion Responsive Child Theme to v8.2 which includes three new header/banner image sets (dogs, kittens and wild flowers). Both the main theme and child theme zip files can be downloaded at https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-responsive-theme/
Note: to update a child theme download the child theme zip file, extract on your PC and upload using FTP.
As the subject of this mailing states, Stallion Responsive is currently on sale (Christmas sale), but not for much longer, so if you haven’t already purchased a license, don’t wait too long.
The 8.2 update is another huge leap in features.
Been hearing the Stallion theme series looks dated for sometime and agree some of the styles I’ve developed aren’t that inspiring.
To bring even more options into how to style a WordPress site I’d split the styling into two parts in Stallion 8.1:
Layout (how wide sidebars are etc…)
Colour (font colours and font styles)
This worked quite well, but meant to use a different font family and font sizes required building a new colour scheme. With Stallion 8.2 I’ve split the colour part into two parts so now colours and fonts are separate, so we now have:
Layout (how wide sidebars are etc…)
Colour (font colours)
Font (font styles)
Means we can build a new colour scheme and use it with any of the current font schemes, or build a new font scheme and use it with any of the current colour schemes. This multiplies the number of possible theme styles possible, currently in 8.2 there are:
12 Layouts
32 Colour Schemes
26 Font Schemes
Which means there’s a total of 12 x 32 x 26 = 9,984 theme styles.
If I/you create just one new layout or colour or font scheme it adds 384 new combinations.
For the font families I’ve used websafe fonts (will work on all devices).
These sites for example use…
# http://www-news.co.uk/
Layout = #3 Main Content 660px : Left sidebar 310px
Colour = White n Dark Blue
Font = Times New Roman, Times, serif Rounded Corners
Want something a bit out there, what about neon yellow and comic sans.
# http://www.free-funny-jokes.com/
Layout = #3 Main Content 660px : Left sidebar 310px
Colour = Neon Yellow
Font = Comic Sans MS, cursive, sans-serif Rounded Corners
Also made a neon green, neon pink, neon purple and neon red, so if you like over the top colour schemes or feel like your site should look like it’s been hacked by the Matrix, go for it…
# https://stallion-theme.co.uk/
Layout = #3 Main Content 660px : Left sidebar 310px
Colour = White n Dark Blue
Font = Verdana, Geneva, sans-serif
There are 9,984 combinations, the above are the main settings, you can also set these on a post by post basis (every post on the posts edit page can have a different layout, colour, font combination).
# https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-responsive-theme/
Layout = #3 Main Content 660px : Left sidebar 310px (same as main layout)
Colour = White n Red
Font = Georgia, serif
# https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-wordpress-seo-theme/
Layout = #3 Main Content 660px : Left sidebar 310px (same as main layout)
Colour = Dazzling Blue and Cayenne
Font = Palatino Linotype, Book Antiqua, Palatino, serif
# https://stallion-theme.co.uk/mailing-list/
Layout = 1 – Main Content 760px : Left Sidebar 210px
Colour = Light n Marsala
Font = Times New Roman, Times, serif
I do like the Marsala colour (like a red wine), have a colour scheme with more colour called White n Marsala : https://stallion-theme.co.uk/website-optimization/ Have been using the website http://www.pantone.com/ for colour inspiration, Pantone produces colour trends for fashion designers etc… for example Marsala is supposed to be big for 2015.
This is just a taste of the new Stallion Responsive 8.2 customizations possible.
Many of the main Stallion options can now be overwrote on a post by post basis, want just one post with a top banner image of kittens, not a problem: https://stallion-theme.co.uk/technical-support/
Want the site to have AdSense ads, but on your posts which are selling a product/service not to have any ads, not a problem: https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-responsive-theme/
Want a custom header image above the main title, not a problem: https://stallion-theme.co.uk/wordpress-header-images/
You can now disable or enable almost everything on a post by post basis, the possibilities are almost infinite.
There’s plenty of other new features as well like lazy loading images (improves performance, faster site = better Google rankings), but without using Jquery: most lazy load plugins require Jquery which slows a site down. So you add lazy loading to speed a site up by adding a huge 100KB javascript file, didn’t make sense, so found a solution (thanks to a Stallion Responsive user: thanks Erik) called Rocket Lazy Load Images. The stand alone plugin has a major flaw (when javascript is disabled there’s a big block where the image should be) I’ve fixed in the built it Stallion version (mines better :-)).
Almost forgot, also added social media Open Graph meta tags using the Yoast WordPress SEO plugin data format (Yoast data will work with Stallion, Stallion data will work with Yoast).
There’s lots of new options scattered through the options pages, for example we can turn off the continue reading links or set the header image to load above the main title area.

[Stallion Responsive] Stallion Responsive 8.3 Update
Released Stallion Responsive 8.3 in January 2016. Current Stallion Responsive users should see the update under their WordPress Dashboards. If not the zip file can be downloaded at https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-responsive-theme/.
The update includes a bug fix in the Stallion Recent SEO Comments widget which broke the widget for WordPress 4.4 users. Rather than loading unique recent comments it was loading the last comment made multiple times.
Updated quite a bit of depreciated code.
Added some new options…
Under Performance Options : Clean the Header Code
New option: emojis_off Off: Removes pointless Emojis (OFF)
Tick this option and the new WordPress Emojis are disabled. If you don’t use Emojis tick this off, WordPress adds a bunch of pointless javascript and CSS which will have a small negative performance hit.
Under SEO Advanced Options : SEO Super Comments Settings
New option: Source of More Comments by Author.
In Stallion 8.2.2 if a commenter had more than one comment an excerpt of those comments could be shown on the Stallion SEO super comments pages. With this new option you can choose how those comments are selected. “Source of More Comments by Author All Posts” is how Stallion 8.2.2 works. “Source of More Comments by Author Same Post**” is the new Stallion 8.3 option which when selected will only show comments from the same WordPress post.
For example I have the Same Post option set at https://stallion-theme.co.uk/mailing-list/?cid=47542 you can see near the bottom under “More Comments by SEO Dave” all 5 excerpts are from comments by me under the https://stallion-theme.co.uk/mailing-list/ WordPress post.
This new option is useful for sites with a lot of comments and the commenter’s tend to post multiple times on the same posts. Means the internal linking and text is much more likely to be more related adding additional SEO benefit. Though it does mean there will tend to be less “More comments” excerpts shown. For example on this SEO super comment page https://stallion-theme.co.uk/seo-check/?cid=47494 there’s one excerpt because I’ve only commented on the corresponding post twice.

[Stallion Responsive] Stallion Responsive 8.3 Update
[Stallion Responsive] Stallion Responsive 8.3.1 Bug Update
Currently have a $40 sale on for Stallion Responsive, the sale will be ending soon.
Released Stallion Responsive 8.3.1 in February 2016. Current Stallion Responsive users should see the update under their WordPress Dashboards. If not the zip file can be downloaded at https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-responsive-theme/.
This is a small bug update with no new features added.
The bug fixed was related to the Stallion SEO Comments feature. If a comment was approved and then later sent to pending/spam/trash, although the link to the SEO super comment was removed from the comments, the URL would still load a non-approved comment!
If you had a comment with comment id 9999 that was set to pending/spam/trash and someone loaded a URL like:
domain.com/name-of-post/?cid=9999
It would load the comment.
In Stallion Responsive 8.3.1 only comments that are set to approved and on a post that’s published will show the comment content. The URL will still load, but will show the original post with a canonical URL to the original post (hidden in the head code) so Google will pass any SEO benefit back to the original post.
BTW Don’t respond to this email, it’s the mailing list email address and it will bounce back to you unread.

[Stallion Responsive] Stallion Responsive 8.3.1 Bug Update
[Stallion Responsive] Stallion Responsive 8.4 Update : 70+ New Color Schemes!
Currently have a $30 sale on for Stallion Responsive 8.4 https://stallion-theme.co.uk/stallion-responsive-theme/, don’t know how long I’ll keep it at this price (lowest it’s ever been!).
Released Stallion Responsive 8.4 in September 2016. Current Stallion Responsive users should see the update under their WordPress Dashboards: tested with WordPress 4.6 (I have it running on 60+ blogs). If not the zip file can be downloaded at the link above.
This is a small update in features, but HUGE in new color schemes.
Small improvements to the mobile responsive CSS code, in particular regarding AdSense ads: Google changed it’s policy on the size of Ads above the fold on small mobile devices.
Added more social media promotion options, ability to override the Twitter creator @name option on a post by post basis (useful for guest posts).
Huge update in the number of color schemes.
In 8.3.1 we had around 40 color schemes, with the 8.4 update that jumps to a whopping 112 color schemes! I used the color scheme creator feature (under “Stallion Theme” > “Color Options” : “Color Scheme CSS File Creator ON”) to create over 70 new theme color schemes over a few days (really easy to customize Stallion).
I’m using the post override features to show different color schemes on a post by post basis, so if you randomly browse the site https://stallion-theme.co.uk/ you’ll see the color scheme change to some of the new ones.
I found most of the new colors at http://www.w3schools.com/colors/colors_groups.asp and others at Pantone colors of the year like Rose Quartz and Serenity are this years colors: http://www.pantone.com/color-of-the-year-2016.
Find the colors HTML code like-
Dark Slate Gray = #2F4F4F
Use a site like http://www.color-hex.com/color/2f4f4f to find complimentary colors and shades.
Use those color HTML codes under “Appearance” > “Color Scheme CSS File Creator” (Stallion feature) to create a custom color scheme. The feature creates the CSS files and a backup file so you can deploy your color scheme on multiple sites (or add it to a Stallion Responsive child theme). It’s an awesome WordPress theme customization feature.

Four of the new color schemes are inspired by children’s picture books “The Tale of Peter Rabbit” and “I Want My Hat Back”.
