There’s two ways to install the WordPress SEO Talian Theme, via the inbuilt WordPress theme installer or via FTP. Doesn’t matter which way you install Talian 05, the results are the same. Install Talian SEO Theme Using WordPress Theme Installer Log into your WordPress Dashboard, click “Appearance” >> “Themes”. Click the “Install Themes” tab. Click the “upload” link. Use the browse button to browse your computer for the Talian zip file talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip. If you aren’t sure how to find your Download folder (assuming you saved it there) I suggest copying the talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip file to your Desktop so it’s easier to find. Select the “talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip” file and click “Install now”. Click the “Activate” link. Talian is installed, see the readme files […]

How to Add an Aweber Opt-in Form to WordPress?
Hi Dave:
I wanted to embed an Opt-in Form (Aweber WebForm) on the right side bar of the Talian WP theme I’m using for the site, however, after I copy the HTML code into the text widget, the form juts out of the side bar’s margin.
Any ideas how I can have it centered nicely in the sidebar?
Thanks!
Glenn
How to Add an Aweber Opt-in Form to the Talian WordPress Theme
To add custom widgets you have to match the custom widget code with the Talian theme coding. As you can see there’s a limited amount of space on a sidebar, if the width of your code is say 400px wide it’s going to jut out.
Basically you have to edit the code so it fits in with the Talian theme. Your best bet is to simplify the code as much as possible, especially when it comes to width and borders.

How to Modify an Aweber Opt-In Form?
Thanks for your input, Dave. I could not figure what where on the Aweber Form code to modify, in terms of the width of the form nor the alignment of the entire form. So … I opted to use a copy of the plugin, PopUp Domination, to embed my Opt-In form on the site.
Thanks, again,
Glenn
P.S. Is there a way to disable the display of the Post Tags after the display of the Post Excerpt (via Post Teaser)?

Talian 5 AdSense WordPress Theme Review
Hello David,
This is Jose. Just to let you know that I purchased Talian05 and used it to completely update my site (which was a static html site) in Spanish! Though it is not completely finished yet, I am really satisfied with the result.
Thanks so much for this great theme.

How to Install a WordPress Theme Using FTP?
Hi David.
I’m having trouble finding the Talian theme in my dashboard, although I’ve followed all the steps you outlined, ie uploading using Filezilla. I can even see the Talian file there on the right hand side panel under Themes, with the units of 2 million odd beside it, and it says the file has been successfully transferred to my site.
But when I go to my Dashboard, there’s still only the one custom theme installed there: Twenty Ten. When I go to install a theme, it says no such theme is installed.
Is there one step I’m missing? I’ve got a Dedicated Hostgator account, though if that’s any help.
Thanks for your help.

How to Network Activate a WordPress Theme
Are you using WordPress Multisite with the Massive Passive Profits Autoblog Plugin?
If so you need to Network Activate Talian 05, take a look at the Massive Passive Profits Plugin Setting Up a Sub-Domain Blog Template with Talian 05 article, section “Network Activate Talian 05”.

Incompatible Archive. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature
I would network activate Talian theme if I could find it, but it’s not showing up in my dashboard under Themes, although I had transferred it with Filezilla onto my site.
Then I tried uploading it from the WP option of adding a theme, but this answer came up:
Installing Theme from uploaded file: talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.lnk
Unpacking the package…
Incompatible Archive. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature
I’m not a technical person, so wouldn,t know what this means.
Also, in the right hand panel of Filezilla, the Talian theme still shows up as the Jzip icon, and not as a file icon. I tried creating a directory for it, and when the directory was created and I went to Enter Directory, the file came up as empty, as compared to Twenty Ten files all showing up when I Enter Directory for it.
Sorry if I’m taking up your time for something that may be very basic for technical people, but I really want to get started with the Talian theme, and I would really appreciate some advice focused on this particular problem. Your general advice above assumes that we can find the Talian theme in the Dashboard, whereas I cannot.
Thanks for your help.

Corrupt WordPress Theme Zip File PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT Error Message
You’ve got a corrupt talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip file.
I’ve sent you an email with the zip file attached and instructions how to install correctly.
For others if you receive this error message when installing a theme via the built in WordPress theme installer:
Incompatible Archive. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature
Normally means either the zip file is corrupt (for example if during the Talian download there was an interruption to your Internet connection it could cut the end of the zip file off) or your webserver is low on diskspace and there wasn’t enough space to upload and unzip the zip file.
If you have this error message drop me an email with the email you ordered with and I’ll email you the Talian zip file.
If it’s diskspace contact your webhost for more space or clear some space off your server. Although Talian has a lot of banner images (100 in Talian 05 and images take up a lot more space than the basic theme files) it’s still under a 2MB zip file and under 3MB unzipped. You’d have to have a webhost that gives a very small amount of disk space (normally not a limiting factor as hard drives are so cheap these days) or you’ve uploaded a lot of files.

Testing WordPress Theme on Apache Development Server
Hi
Iam setting up a site utilising the Talian Theme and have at present installed it to an apache development server on my Desktop and the server at the website included in this comments details. AT the moment I am experiencing two problems.
1.) On my development server the large ad that floats to Left/Right of page content does not show up no matter what setting I apply in the adsense.php code page. this is the same in IE8, Firefox 3.6.13 and Opera 11.
2.)On the live website all is OK with IE and Opera, but with Firefox, If I place a Calendar widget in the Left (sidebar1) the heading shows in the sidebar but the dates are hidden behind either the page content or the adsense ad depending on whether I have it set for left or right.
If I set the calendar in the Right (sidebar two), again, the heading shows in line below the sidebar but the dates are again offset to the Right of the heading.
Is this a known problem you already have a solution for, or have I won the jackpot for finding this.
Any chance of a pointer to what I have to tweak to adjust for these cases?
Other than these niggles I think this Talian 5 theme is great.
Many Thanks
Paul

Apache Modules Missing on Development Server
Sounds like your development server is missing an Apache module or something your live server has. In Talian 5 that ad is held in an include file, so if it’s not showing might be a setting related to PHP includes. Try turning more modules on/checking PHP settings until it works. Also check you’ve not added a space to your pub-number as that breaks the AdSense code.
The calendar widget is an SEO disaster and I’ve not supported it in Talian 5 (css code removed) and in Stallion 6 I’ve removed it completely (will no longer show on the widgets page).
This default WordPress widget is so poorly coded and SEO damaging you should not use it in it’s current form. Every day link on the calendar holds the text content of an entire post in the title attribute of each link! Imagine having a blog with a new post every day, that’s the full text content of 28-31 posts just within that widget, that’s potentially making each page ~30x bigger than they should be and for no gain!!!
If you still want to include a calendar widget I can post the CSS you’d need to add to the style.css file?

Apache Modules Missing on Development Server
eMember WordPress Plugin Support
Hi
Thanks for the info. As far as the Ad is concerned I think it is a case of the diparity of php versions between live and development sites.
Re the calendar, I have got my head round the “cause it was there” syndrome and decided I can live without it. But! I will be using the eMember plugin and am experiencing the same displacement effect when I place the login/sign up form in the sidebars. Only in Firefox, IE and Opera are OK.
Would that be a similar css tweak that is needed?
Many Thanks
Paul

eMember WordPress Plugin CSS Styling
I had a quick look at the eMember plugin output on your site and it’s using tables to generate the form, that’s probably causing the problem.
They’ve given the table various CSS classes, don’t they provide some example CSS for styling?
BTW noticed you have some nofollow attributes in your code, nofollow deletes link benefit. View source on your home page and track down how they are generated and ideally remove them. For example you’ve added the Recent Comments widget instead of the GAT Recent Comments widget. The former uses nofollow on links to the authors website, the latter doesn’t add links to the authors site (I use the GAT widget on this site, see right menu).
You should also use the GAT Meta widget not the default one, the default one adds a link to the login forms which wastes link benefit. The GAT one protects link benefit that would go through those links.
