There’s two ways to install the WordPress SEO Talian Theme, via the inbuilt WordPress theme installer or via FTP. Doesn’t matter which way you install Talian 05, the results are the same. Install Talian SEO Theme Using WordPress Theme Installer Log into your WordPress Dashboard, click “Appearance” >> “Themes”. Click the “Install Themes” tab. Click the “upload” link. Use the browse button to browse your computer for the Talian zip file talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip. If you aren’t sure how to find your Download folder (assuming you saved it there) I suggest copying the talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip file to your Desktop so it’s easier to find. Select the “talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip” file and click “Install now”. Click the “Activate” link. Talian is installed, see the readme files […]

Updating WordPress Themes Using FTP
Glad you got the update OK.
If you already have the Talian with AdSense/SEO theme installed you copy the new files over the old. Don’t forget to add your AdSense pub code to the new adsense.php file.
This will remove any changes you’ve made, so if there are important changes you’ll need to re add them to the new files.
For this reason you should always make a backup of your old files first, if something goes wrong you can at least reupload the old files and get your site back to where it was before the update.
Since you got your theme quite recently there won’t be a lot, if any important changes to the theme. About the biggest fix is the child Pages problem which you pointed out above.
Rest of the changes are updating depreciated code that won’t have any negative effect on your site, just means like the categorized links feature didn’t work any new features WordPress brings in by default might not work right away with the old depreciated code (quite grateful the categorized links code didn’t work with the old category code, it’s ugly).
So far it’s just the Category code that resulted in a feature not working and I updated quite a bit of depreciated code from WordPress 1.5 and earlier.
If you aren’t sure if it’s worth updating you could rename the updated theme folder offline and upload the new theme to test.
For example you could change the new folder to /talian-adsense-seo-03-new/ and upload.
You’ll then have two Talian themes listed on your themes page, to distinguish between them you could either hover over and read the URL of the files (look for new to know it’s the new one) or edit the style.css file in the new folder and change
Theme Name: Talian AdSense Targeted + SEO
to something like
Theme Name: Talian AdSense Targeted + SEO New
Then you can easily tell which is which.
This way you can directly compare what you have now to what the update looks like without loosing your customizations.
For others not sure what to do:
When I updated Talian for this site it made no changes to how this site works. If you have child Pages and haven’t used the code fix above the update will fix that problem (this site has no child Pages).
If you’re AdSense ad units have a green border around them you are using the Talian with AdSense/SEO from last year and the update will make your ad units look like what you see on this site (no border). If you want this ad unit look, but have made lots of code changes and don’t want to loose them you could use the adsense.php file from the update and just change the pub id code to yours.
On some of my sites like I had to edit 8 of the theme files to get the customization seen, from removing the dates of posts on all the files that use post content to adding the code for my youngest sons art work on the menu.
Can be a real pain keeping everything up to date and customized!

Talian 5 WordPress Theme Download
I purschased Talian and can’t download. Can you help?
Talian 5 WordPress Theme Download
Regarding downloading the Talian 05 zip file, a few customers (well under 1% of customers) have reported the download not completing after multiple attempts.
Don’t know why a download would fail multiple times, possible cause is your Internet cache folder is set too small. Though the Talian 05 zip file is just 2mb in size (big for a WordPress theme because of the 100 banner images) would mean you have a really small cache (understand the default is 50mb), so highly unlikely.
Not a problem if you can’t download the theme zip file, drop me an email or a comment here using the email address you ordered with (must be that email address so I can find you order) and I’ll email the file ASAP.
Your zip file has been emailed Larry.
Let me know if you run into any more problems.

Talian WordPress Plugin Installation?
Hi Dave,
Paid for and downloaded talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip today. Had no trouble with the download.
Put it in my plugins dir, no problem, then clicked install. This is what came back:
Unpacking the package…
Installing the plugin…
Plugin installed successfully.
Looks ok, yes? Well…
Tried activating it with “Activate Plugin” link, received this msg:
“The plugin does not have a valid header.”
Tried the whole process again, then “Network Activate” (trying to use it with wp-mpp plugin as well – is this part of the problem? wp-mpp seems to work just fine). Got the same msg:
“The plugin does not have a valid header.”
All the software seems to be in the right place; talian does not appear in the plugins list anywhere – not active or inactive.
Am running as “Super Admin” – intending to create subdir domains, blogs: eg, “subdom.mydomain.com” when working.

Talian 5 WordPress Theme NOT WordPress Plugin
Talian 05 is a WordPress theme, (not a plugin) you’ve uploaded it to the wrong folder.
If you upload to the /wp-content/themes/ folder you’ll have access to Talian.
Let me know if you run into any more problems.

WordPress Privacy Policy Plugin
I am using Talian5 and added the plugin for privacy policy page (which is needed to run adsense). I also have an about page.
Niether of these pages is displaying. Is this WP problem or a Theme problem?
I love the theme – it will serve me well. Just need a little help.
Thanks
WordPress Navigation Menu
Sounds like you’ve turned Navigation links off via the Talian Admin page. Checked your site and can type in the URL for those two pages and they exist.
Go to the admin page and check the settings of
“Navigation Menu On/Off”
If you have it set to “Navigation Menu OFF” that would hide your About page and any other Pages you’ve created.
Other possibility if you’ve excluded pages via the setting “Navigation Menu Excludes”, that would involve you typing those Pages IDs in the exclude box (I’ll assume you didn’t do that :-))
Those are the only Talian settings that can hide Pages. If it’s not one of those are you using a plugin for hiding pages from normal WordPress navigation?
If this doesn’t solve the problem go to the widgets page and drag a Pages widget to one of your sidebars and see if the links show within it (they should).
BTW are you supposed to have a link to “betting football” at the bottom of the Privacy page?

Clickbank Product Ads
Hi Please can you help?
I purchased the Talian5 theme from you. I know it is Clickbank ready but I seem to have no control over the Clickibank ads. Is there any way I can generate a box at the side that I can use to display Clickbank ads that I especially want? So that I can copy and paste the individual codes/links myself?
Sorry if this is obvious…but I’m still new to wordpress and I have tried their support – with no luck.
Clickbank Product Ads
Contextual Clickbank Product Ads
Talian 05 SEO/AdSense/Clickbank theme currently only allows for automated Clickbank ad selection, it takes the title of a post etc.. and uses that as the keywords for searching for products.
In the next update (should be released before Christmas) of Talian I’ve added the ability to specify the keywords site wide.
It’s not exactly what you are asking for, you can’t select specific products, but it is another way to generate the ads.
Not the way I’ve coded it into Talian (in the update it’s part of the admin menu), but you can hack the same thing as follows:
As a quick fix you could edit the clickbank-functions.php file as follows.
Near the bottom find the line:
hopfeed_keywords =
And replace the entire line with:
where keyword1 etc… are a list of keywords.
Save and upload over the file on your site and only those keywords will be used for all Clickbank ads.
As far as I’m aware the Clickbank API doesn’t allow for selecting specific products. If you wanted to display specific Clickbank products you’d have to build a custom ad system and write the ads yourself, upload images (if you wanted images) etc… I do something like this at (note it has a lot of racist joke comments, thousands of them!!) as a replacement to AdSense ads. Have taken a product datafeed from Shareasale and using a custom built plugin and custom Talian 05 theme generated what you see (would like to add this feature to Talian, but it’s not straightforward as involves a lot of effort to setup).
Actually you might be able to get close to what you want. The keywords you use in the hack I’ve listed above could be the unique usernames of the products you want to list. When you create a Hop Link the Clickbank publisher usually gives each product a relatively unique name (not all do this, but many do) so when you build a Hop Link it looks like this before it’s cloaked:
Find products in Clickbank you want to promote and search Clickbank for the UNIQUEPRODUCTNAME to see how many products show up. If it’s only the one you want to promote (or just a few you are happy to promote) use it as a keyword. It’s not a perfect system for what you want to achieve, but as long as the products you want to promote have unique products names used in the Hop Link you could build a handful of keywords (product names) that only target products you want to promote.

How to Install a WordPress Theme Using FTP?
Hi,
I purchase Talian 05 I know the read me file say unzip load folder, question when unzip I see 3 folder and more pages, do I upload all 3 folder or what.
Thanks
How to Install a WordPress Theme Using FTP
If you’ve unzipped Talian correctly (maintaining the correct folder structure) you should have a folder called /talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/ within that folder are four more folders and a lot of files. If you don’t have this structure you’ve unzipped it with the wrong settings, try with different settings.
Upload the folder /talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/ using FTP to the /wp-content/themes/ folder (so you have /wp-content/themes/talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/).
Or you can install a theme via the built in WordPress theme installer via your WordPress Dashboard under “Appearance” >> “Themes” and under the “Install Themes” tab “Upload”, browse and find the Talian zip file you downloaded (talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip) and click “Install Now”.
The second option can fail if permissions of your upload folder isn’t writable by WordPress.

Unzip a WordPress Theme
Hi Dave,
Can you explain by different settings, I’m using WinZip when I unzip the Ink-pr0t zip file I get the 4 folders and lot of files. But do not get the folder name /talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05/; Thanks
How to Unzip a WordPress Theme Zip file
That’s not the Talian theme you are unzipping.
I guess you’ve mixed up the file with something else you’ve downloaded.
Check where you normally save zip files you download for the talian-adsense-clickbank-seo-05.zip file, if you can’t find it use the download link in the email you received when you made your order (you still have time remaining to download again).
If you have problems with that drop me an email with the email address you ordered with and I’ll email you the file.
