Earlier this month (August 2010) I noticed on the scrolling news ticker on SKY News that 40 US billionaires have pledged to donate half their wealth to charity upon their death. It’s a lot more billionaires that’s pledged to give to charity as I update this article (2014). And that’s the last I saw of this billionaire charity pledge from either SKY News (which I rarely watch) or BBC News (that I watch at least a couple of hours a day). It’s been over 3 years since I wrote this article and I haven’t seen this mentioned again on the news, yet as of December 2013 there’s apparently over 125 billionaires who have joined “The Giving Pledge”. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett Charity Pledge
I have always thought very highly of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett for the way they handle their wealth. That is with modesty and charity.
Buffet lives in the same house he was married in in 1959 I think.
Gates, really just about his charity work with his wife.
There are many people who use their wealth in positive ways. Making money is not wrong at all, it is how you use it and what it does to your character.

Rachel Hunnicutt-Knight Cancer Charity Appeal
Ok SEO Dave, I know you may think I’m taking the p*** with this comment but it’s for a good cause! Anyone reading this please read Rachel Hunnicutt-Knight story! She is currently in a critical condition in a US hospital. Her (so called) life insurance wants an extra $80,000 for the treatment she is going through.
My blog post about her has links to her personal blog and Got Marrow.org, set up by a friend of the family who also happens to be connected with the ‘Best Of The Web’ directories. (think SEO)
I’ve already donated £20 ($30?) to her fund. No donation is to small & all donations are greatly appreciated.
(PS- sorry SEO Dave for trying to hi-jack your site but I’ve been using your theme for my blog for a couple of years / since V3 – Aid Renegade by ‘blog’ Aid Renegade by nature!)

David,
I agree that articles like this one need to take hold in our communities around the world, not just in the United States. I know that as a US initiative, The Giving Pledge attracted many US billionaires first, but have since expanded to include many international billionaires as well.
At home in Russia, a mining giant, Vladimir Potanin has taken the pledge and the only press he received in Russia was how that would affect his divorce settlement. Let’s bring the good news out into the world, not just the bad.
Thank you for posting!
