All In One SEO Plugin and SEOPressor WordPress Plugins
I forgot something in my previous post David.
Before Stallion I used All-in-one SEO plugin which allowed me to put multiple keywords, meta tags and a brief excerpt of the post for some search engines to use.
Can you just explain what, if anything, you recommend to use with Stallion please.
I know you say that Stallion is fully SEO optimized but I’d just like to understand exactly what I need to do on a per post basis.
Incidentally I use an SEO plugin called SEOpressor whilst compiling my posts which gives me a checklist of things i need to have in my post for best SEO. Things like:
H1, H2, H3 headers
Images with ALT tags
links to other posts
%age of keyword density.
So for instance I have to have a H1 tag which I’ve always put at the beginning (but just realized I don’t necessarily have to put it at the beginning) but that means I have instances of the post title and keyword. Example from one of my other sites: You’ll see that I break this up with Google adverts but I don’t want to use Adsense in my main content on the new site.
So is the main title in Stallion a H1 link?
Thanks
Nigel
All In One SEO Plugin and SEOPressor WordPress Plugins
WordPress SEO Search Engine Optimized Content
The world has moved on from when meta tags used to have serious value. Currently no meta tag has RANKING value in Google, the description meta tag may be used as the excerpt for a SERP which could increase the click through rate, but no increase in rankings.
On the SEO Advanced options page I’ve added a warning section at the bottom for plugins like the All In One SEO Pack plugin because they can cause loads of SEO damage (take a look at the page and warnings).
There are automated meta tags with Stallion, they are on the SEO Advanced options page. In Stallion and Talian you can use the WordPress excerpt for the pages meta description, if unset an excerpt is automatically generated.
About the only, possibly useful feature the all In One SEO Plugin has that Stallion lacks is the ability to set an independent title element (the plugin probably calls it a title tag even though it’s not a tag, it’s an HTML element!). I’d personally not use it, I set the title of a post with SEO in mind as it becomes the title element, but if you wanted two titles, one for the title element and one for other areas of the page (the default title of a page) you could do this with the All In One SEO Plugin Pack and similar plugins.
The meta keywords feature is a complete waste of your valuable time, meta keywords are so last millennium I have turned them off by default in Stallion (they have no SEO value anymore).
I’ve heard of the WordPress SEO Plugin SEOpressor, but not tried it, keyword density is so over rated. My approach to SEO copyrighting is if it reads and looks fine you can add those keywords.
Note how I wrote WordPress SEO Plugin SEOpressor and not just SEOpressor because this page is targeting the SERP “WordPress SEO Plugins”, more often a page uses those keywords (and derivatives), that would be WordPress, SEO and Plugin/Plugins without it reading spammy, the better. Get the idea, you don’t need a tool to determine keyword density, just read it to yourself and if you can add an SEO keyword without it reading like spam, add it.
If you view source of a Stallion page (like this one) you will see the title of a post is used within various headers, H1 etc… For a Post page like this one you’ll find the title of the post/page is within a H1 tag, so ideally you wouldn’t add more H1s. You can add more headers depending on the content. Avoid adding more H1s, aim for one or two H2s (how many depends on the size of the page, for a page like this good for adding derivative SERPs) and as many H3+ as works (again derivative SERPs and support main SERPs). there’s also built in H*s in the theme (view source to see them).
Alt text to images is helped a little in the theme, depends on what features you turn on, the auto thumbnails for example use the title of the post for the alt text. WordPress is quite good with linking, can be improved with a related posts plugin. I’m running a new one, but I had to fix it (breaks if you have a custom navigation menu), I’ve informed the plugin author and supplied the code I fixed, but so far no fix, so when I find the time will add it to this page (give me a few days to catch up after my dedicated server disasters, 3 dedicated servers in as many days!!!).
I’m going to be adding a new plugins list for Stallion as though I still use many of the plugins listed on this page, some I’ve changed (you wouldn’t go wrong using the SEO plugins above, the changes are just better versions of the same concept).

Stallion Theme Transaction ID?
Hi Dave:
First and foremost … congratulations on rolling out the Stallion theme!
And, thanks a bunch for all your help on the Talian theme on my MPP autoblog sites.
I tried activating the Stallion theme on one of my sites yesterday by entering my email address (used to purchase the Talian theme sometime last year). I haven’t received the email w/ my trans id. Will it take some time?
Thanks,
Glenn
Stallion Theme Transaction ID?
Stallion WordPress SEO Theme ID Request Form
Found the order email address you used to order Talian (email address related to Hawaii), have put it in the Stallion transaction ID reminder form so you should receive the correct Stallion ID by the time you read this.
Moved this site to Godaddy hosting and the emails sent by the form are a bit on the slow side, taking about 5 minutes to arrive in my tests.
LMK if you have any problems.
For anyone who can’t work out the correct Stallion transaction ID PayPal/Clickbank supplied when you bought Talian/Stallion just go to the main Stallion Theme options page and paste your order email address in the reminder form. Much quicker than asking for support here and it’s all I’m going to do when a customer asks for the right ID and happen to use the email they ordered with as their comment email address.

How to Make 2 Column WordPress Theme?
Hi Dave,
I’d like to explore the posibility of removing the right side-bar, in order to make the post area wider. Is that possible? Will I damage the theme?
Could you please provide some guidance?
Thanks
Héctor
Multiple Layouts WordPress Theme
I plan to build in different sidebar options into Stallion in the next update (not started yet, so no estimated release date).
It’s not an easy thing to achieve and not simple enough to explain what to change (quite a lot of changes needed).
If you understand HTML, PHP and CSS to a reasonable level the main files to edit are:
style.css
sidebar.php

Update: Have added multiple sidebar layouts.
Multiple Layouts WordPress Theme
Single Column WP Theme
Hi David.
Do you have an ETA for the single column version of Stallion please?
I think you said you’d support a single 300 pixel wide column, which will be perfect to replace my existing theme.
Thanks in advance
Nigel
Stallion Theme Updates
No ETA on the next Stallion Update, not started working on it.
Making sure I’ve ironed out any major problems before moving on to new theme features. Think I have all the big issues resolved in the Stallion 6.0.1 release, but need to give it a few weeks to be sure.
As it is right now have one small CSS issue to fix, the main navigation menu drop down links doesn’t format correctly in IE7.
Everything else appears to be working as expected.

Stallion SEO WordPress Theme Layout Updates
Been working on the Stallion 6.1 upgrade and the new them layout options are coded.
The new sidebar layouts in Stallion 6.1 are:
Left Sidebar 200px wide + Right Sidebar 200px (Stallion 6.0.1 sidebar layout).
Left Sidebar 200px wide + Left Sidebar 200px (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
Right Sidebar 200px wide + Right Sidebar 200px (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
Left Sidebar 255px wide + Left Sidebar 165px (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
Right Sidebar 255px wide + Right Sidebar 165px (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
Left Sidebar 310px wide : ~100px wider main content area (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
Right Sidebar 310px wide : ~100px wider main content area (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
No Left/Right Sidebars : both sidebars pushed below main content resulting in 1000 px wide main content area (Stallion 6.1 new sidebar layout).
Also added a new colour scheme, a custom banner ad widget (copy the URL to a banner image and a URL to a link and you have a banner ad) and added a Flickr widget as well.
Assuming I don’t fall into my usual must add one more theme feature before release (can’t help myself) probably release Stallion 6.1 in June after some testing (I’m in no rush).

Stallion SEO WordPress Theme Layout Updates
WordPress Sidebar Layout
Hi David,
Currently I am using ‘Sidebar Layout – 4 Main content 660px:Right sidebar 310px’
I want use two Right sidebar just like available layout Right sidebar 200px, Right Sidebar 200px but this uses main content 560px.
I want use main content as 660px rather than 560px.
Please provide me any solution to change layout.
Stallion Theme Wider Design
I don’t have a quick solution for that theme layout, you would have to make major CSS changes which are beyond the scope of theme support (would take me an hour or two to code it).
Would also break the header images, so you wouldn’t be able to have images within the header areas since they are 1000px wide which is why I’ve not added wider layouts, would have to develop another header width.

How To Customize WordPress Theme Width
Hello,
Please i need help on how to reduce the width of my blog. I’d like mine to be like yours with header and footer aligned with the other components.
I tried tampering with the codes, but was still getting it all wrong.
Please i want mine the same size as yours.
Thank you.
WordPress Theme Styles
Not sure what you are trying to achieve, but this site now runs on the Stallion theme not Talian 5 like you are using, so it’s a different theme with a similar look.
If you ordered Talian before the release of Stallion you’ll have received an email about updating to Stallion for free. If it didn’t arrive download the Stallion zip file (put your Talian 5 order email address into the Transaction ID Reminder form to obtain your Stallion ID for activating Stallion).
If you ordered Talian 5 recently and want the Stallion look you’ll need to Order Stallion (it’s not free).

Stallion WordPress SEO Theme Update
I’m in the process of updating all my sites from Talian 5 to Stallion 6.
This Free Recipe site is still currently running Talian 5, but will be updating soon. Takes a while to update over 70 WordPress installations.
Stallion 6 is the updated version of Talian 5. The Stallion code is completely rewrote so it’s a new theme, but is based on Talian 5.
There’s a lot of new features with Stallion compared to Talian. The main changes in the look are:
Stallion includes
Header images.
More widget areas.
More ad networks (Chitika, Kontera, Infolinks, Linkwords and the ability to add custom ads easily).
Loads of new stuff.
If you join the Stallion Mailing List you can download the Stallion theme and install it to see what it looks like, but you need a valid Stallion ID to fully activate so you can add your AdSense ID etc… If anyone runs it without adding a valid Stallion ID I’ll get their sites AdSense earnings.
