WordPress Social Media Promotion
Now that Google has the +1 button out it is a consideration. On the other hand, maybe it will go the way of Buzz etc. but the big G seems pretty serious about this.
I guess social signals are a factor in SEO. I have tried like you to be a social media guy but it does not work as well as SEO. But if this is a factor in SEO than maybe the Google +1 button might be a consideration for an update. You do not want to clutter your page up with all that junk but if these are the rules of the game than maybe.
I also like Stumbleuopn for traffic.
Also the Facebook like button fb_xd_fragment thing change might not be bad idea, but you know better than I on this.
I think Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon and maybe +1 are the big three of social media.
YouTube is actually the largest social site on the web, next to FB, but I do not know how to harness that power. Some people have a YouTube button to their channels others I know basically just market and promote with Youtube.
One more idea, but just an idea. I saw a WP plugin that was a stumble button, but it works like related posts to improve click through. This again might be an SEO factor post Panda.
wordpress.org/extend/plugins/stumble-for-wordpress/ I wonder what your take on a plugin like this if the button was in the right place?

FaceBook Recommend WordPress Comments
This might be too much but I noticed the Wall Street Journal online uses a Facebook Recommend on Comments.
If people have a lot of comments on their blog, maybe this would help as people get emotional about comments.
I personally do not recommend comments to my FB friends but I do not know if this would help for promotion options. Just an idea.

The only possible SEO issues I had with this plugin is the Google +1 button and the Facebook Like and Send buttons. They use a custom text link format that MIGHT waste link benefit.
I’ve added Google +1 button to Stallion 6.1 and it already has an SEO neutral Facebook Like button, so will probably use the Stallion buttons for those services until I’m sure.
Finally found a social network WordPress plugin that’s SEO safe.

Social Bookmarking Icons
Dear David,
Thanks for 6.2 version
I have installed it. And if I visit your this site in Google chrome, social bookmarking icons floating on right side is not displayed correctly. But there is no issue with IE.
Could you please check
Thanks

WordPress Theme Social Network Profile Icons
I develop Stallion in FireFox and Google Chrome, before release I check in Internet Explorer and they all look the same to me.
What are you seeing?
You should see images floating and fixed on the right just below the header area (200px from the top). The images are set with opacity (partially see through) when not hovering over them, when hovering they are solid. If the issue is seeing through the images it’s meant to be like that and you’ll be using an old version of IE that doesn’t support opacity.
On this site I’m using the javascript link cloaking on the social network profile image links so they don’t waste link benefit which means if you have javascript turned off in Google Chrome, but not IE you’ll only see the images in Google Chrome, they won’t be clickable. Google Chrome by default has javascript turned off.

Clear Browser Cache with CTRL F5
Sounds like you were loading one or more of the Stallion css files via your cache folder as the code for the social network icons are loaded code wise at the bottom and if your browser didn’t load the updated css files it would be in a line below the footer area.
When you update files on a site and it doesn’t look right force a refresh using CTRL F5 a few times. If you are getting a cached copy of files that will normally clear it.

WordPress Social Media Buttons
StumbleUpon is one of the top social sites and would be a welcomed addition to the promotion options. I question – Flicker’s value for SEM but Stumble is a big one.
Further, I know I am little OCD on this but has the FaceBook question raised by Erik be resolved? I know you answered it a while back, but I was wondering if using your button at this juncture would produce those results.
I currently use www.romantika.name/v2/wordpress-plugin-basic-facebook-social-plugins/ to be on the safe site as I was seeing strange things in my Stats a while back as mentioned. And I know it is not your fault, but a FB thing.
Have you found greater results with the social media on the side bottom or top?

Social Media Buttons for WordPress
Been meaning to add a StumbleUpon button as a Stallion promotions option, so it’s on the list of social media features to add.
I’ve never used Flickr as can’t think of any direct SEO value, I like having full control over images and adding them to Flickr is loosing control and sending traffic to a site I can’t monetize. I’ve added Flickr features to Stallion to make life easier for those who do use Flickr.
I haven’t checked on the status of the Facebook Like Button fb_xd_fragment Bug for a while. Did a quick Google search and based on the dates of articles still discussing this it appears Facebook still hasn’t fixed their code!
Found a potential fix, add this to your .htaccess file changing http://example.com to your domain name
Not tested it, but it should work. Doesn’t stop the bug, cleans up the mess afterwards.
I’ve not tested the relative value of the social media button placements. Remember the side ones aren’t like buttons, they go direct to your profiles so not the same as the Facebook like button etc…

StumbleUpon Button
I think I mentioned this before so if I am overzealous forgive me. I think a Stumbleupon button would be a great addition, if you could squeeze it in for 7.0 that would be great, if not that is OK.
StumbleUpon Button for WordPress
Added the StumbleUpon Button early on in the update process, you can see them on posts at the Stallion 7.0 test site
