David–many thanks–on the first point, all I can say is ‘duh’, didn’t realize this was a wordpress controlled aspect. Got it set now.
On the gravatars, even when I switch from Gravatar Logo to any other setting (Mystery Man, blank, etc) it still shows Gravatar Logo. I don’t think I’ve really touched the comment templates but it’s possible I’ve goofed something up here. I will go and take a look at the code again and see if I can find anything.
The gravatar-as-background-image sounds like a nice SEO feature by the way. Makes me wonder what else is under the hood!
