Google Consultant article updated October 2016. Doing a bit of SEO spring cleaning in autumn :-) Although I’m an SEO consultant (update 2014: no longer offer SEO services, so I’m no longer an SEO consultant, but not changed all the content to reflect this) who deals mainly with Google (it’s THE most important search engine) until watching a recent episode of the Dragon’s Den (TV program on BBC2) I’d not come across the term Google Consultant before. The Dragon’s Den is a TV program where entrepreneurs/inventors pitch their businesses to a group of successful angel investors hoping to secure investment for a share of their business. In this particular episode someone was pitching something called StoryCode which is basically a […]
It’s September 2016 as I update this old SEO article, just 3 more months before 2017. Simple concept, let’s speculate where SEO will be in 2017? I’ll be honest, I’m not sure where Google will go SEO wise in 2017. Obviously there will be more of the same improved. So BrainRank/Hummingbird will get better, they’ll probably take more mobile responsive design into account. Since I first wrote this the Google PageSpeed Insights Tools test has got harsher, really hard to stay in the green. I even got some warnings about AdSense ads being too big on smaller device sizes and had to modify Stallion Responsive mobile CSS rules to load smaller ads on smaller devices. I look forward to Google […]

The sessions (unique visits) on this domain according to Google Analytics increased by around 40% looking at the period just before the Google Panda 4.0 update and about a month after the algo update. That’s a nice chunk of new traffic and it’s stable Google Panda 4.0 Traffic Increase The screenshot above is from Google Analytics for this domain, it’s two screenshots in one of the same Google Analytics graph hovering over different periods, a before and after Google Panda 4 time periods. Added […]
Search Engine Optimization article updated August 2014. Based on this websites log files you most likely found your way here via a relevant search on Google. Maybe a SERP (Search Engine Results Page) like Search Engine Optimization Tutorial 2014 or WordPress SEO Tutorial, Google SERPs I’m doing quite well for. Whatever keyword search you used, you almost certainly are looking for help to improve your search engine rankings (most likely for free :)) and more than likely consider Google THE most important search engine to your websites rankings. You’d be right, Google is the most important search engine. Search Engine Optimization Basics Let’s cover some basic search engine optimization concepts, SEO is a relatively straight forward set of quite basic […]
PageRank Sculpting article updated August 2014… PageRank (PR) confuses a lot of webmasters and SEO Consultants. Many years ago another SEO expert asked me why the site statcounter.com is PR10** despite having a lot of external links on the home page, basically why isn’t the leaked PR (via external links) damaging the sites PR10 home page: the SEO consultant didn’t believe PR leaks and that domain supported his SEO argument regarding PR sculpting. ** As I update this article in 2014 the PR of the domain has dropped to PR8, this doesn’t necessarily mean the site’s lost significantly more than half it’s backlinks. PageRank is based on the entire WWW, well at least the part Google spiders and since I […]
