Just doing some Googling and came across your blog.
I’m in the US, so I can’t comment on Direct Line or Halifax, but I’m in the same boat.
Work from home, my car gets driven infrequently, but I still have to pay the full rate.
A while back (about 9 years) a car insurance company in the US did a test market of charging based on miles driven per year.
It didn’t pan out apparently, but it would sure be nice if they brought it back!
I’d be paying pennies for my car insurance!
