Been playing around with a Twitter plugin (for WordPress) which adds a ‘link’ which when clicked posts content to Twitter (like a Twitter share button).
The original plugin “Better Click To Tweet” output much too much stuff for my liking, I just wanted a simple text link with customizable anchor text and the ability to use the Stallion Responsive Theme link Cloaking Feature so as not to waste link benefit: you have to link to Twitter to tweet this way.
Example Tweet Content
“8 out of 10 Cats Agree, The Stallion Responsive Theme is the Best WordPress SEO Theme PERIOD!”Click the above link to see the format etc… it doesn’t post anything to Twitter until you click the Tweet button on the new page that opens.
Anyway, my modified version of the Better Click To Tweet plugin is a bit of a hack job, but it works. The Tweet links use the Stallion Responsive link cloaking (no wasted link benefit), so perfect for someone like me who hates wasting dofollow links and doesn’t want to delete link benefit using nofollow on social media sites.
Each Tweet link can be customized: the anchor text of the Tweet link, set whether the Tweet links to a Twitter account, whether it links back here (or another URL: like the above example). I’ve set multiple variations of anchor text, I’ve NOT linked them back here (just the text of the quote) and linked the Tweets to a Twitter account.
